“Vaccination: an Act of Love. Love Them. Protect Them. Immunize Them.”

This is the new tag-line for the 2005 National Infant Immunization Week. Coming to a doctor’s office, daycare provider, school near you from April 24 to April 30.

What’s so interesting (scary, apalling, unbelievable) is that on the same day the CDC issued it’s notice of upcoming immunization events, activities and ads, the Secretary of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program announced that trivalent influenza vaccines are now covered under their program, providing no-fault compensation for certain individuals who have been injured by this vaccine.

Why is the coverage no-fault? Well, put simply, because the vaccine-makers knew their vaccines were injuring and killing infants and they were sick of paying hefty legal bills to the families of harmed babies. So the government stepped up to ensure the vaccine programs would continue…

An “Act of Love”…hmmm…I’m not so sure…

Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce

From one of the best websites I’ve visited in ages, the Environmental Working Group. In addition to practical tips about food contaminants, there’s a great Skin Deep “calculator” to help you determine how toxic the body care products you use are…very scary…

Thimerosal - Safe When Injected, But Don’t Swallow!

Anyone who has paid any attention to the great vaccine debate over the last couple of years will have heard of Thimerosal. It’s a chemical that has historically been added to vaccines as a preservative. There’s been debate about whether this mercury derivative has been in any way responsible for the huge increases in childhood autism over the last decade…

Of course, vaccine-makers have claimed that their products are, and have always been, safe. Most have, however, publicly said that they no longer use Thimerosal in their vaccines - not, of course, because it was unsafe, simply because the public asked for it….yeah, right!

In any event, here’s an interesting bit of info from the Merck website - you’ll note this is not the USA or Canadian or UK Merck website, though.

Thimerosal is classified as VERY TOXIC, and even has the wicked skull and cross bones symbol in red, no less! Here’s how they define “very toxic:”
Inhalation, swallowing, or absorption through the skin in very small amounts can
cause considerable damage to health, and may sometimes be lethal. In the event of serious evidence of severe, possibly irreversible damage to health by single, repeated, or prolonged absorption.

So warning: don’t breathe it. Don’t drink it. Don’t let it get on your skin. But…it’s okay to inject it into the bloodstream of infants…over and over and over and over again…yeah, sure.

Read a great article about mercury poisoning in the March 2005 issue of Discover Magazine .

Drink Coca-Cola, Avoid Malaria!

This would be an amusing story from the Scotsman - if it had been posted a couple days ago on April Fool’s Day. Sadly, it appears to be true…scientists are working on putting vaccinations into the food we commonly eat. Not our carrots and broccoli, though - since we actually don’t eat many of those.
  • Vaccines into cigarettes (presumably to prevent cancer);
  • Malaria vaccine in Coca-Cola to protect people in countries where malaria is a problem (uhhh…let’s see…low income, developing countries and the best way to get a malaria vaccine to the greatest number of people is in Coke?! Anyone else feel a little disturbed by this?);
  • Vaccines in beer. (I’ll take a guess that those will be the anti-Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) vaccines that are currently in development.

How about a vaccine that over-rides our collective desire to eat processed crap which has no nutritional value and, in fact, adds to the burden of disease, including those diseases we now rely on vaccines to protect us from?

Oh, but I’m hopeless a dreamer.

Protect your children!

If someone - say a medical reporter for the newspaper you read - gave you the following facts about a certain ingestible item, what would you do? Would you worry about how much of this item your child has ingested in his or her lifetime? Would you ensure your home was free of this item?

Think about these statistics. Think about how you would react to reading an article that provided this information.
  1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons use this item.
  2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in households that consume this item score below average on standardized tests.
  3. In the 18th century, when this item was made in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.

This item is associated with all the major diseases of the body. The effects are obviously cumulative:

  • 99.9 percent of all people who die from cancer have eaten this item
  • 99.7 percent of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate this item within 6 months preceding the accident
  • 93.1 percent of juvenile delinquents came from homes where this item is served frequently

Now, visit Mercola.com to find out what this terrifying item is…and, think carefully the next time you read an article that convinces you to be afraid, be very afraid, of something like, oh, say, the chicken pox.
